Buying guide

Mural or cut lettering?

Printed murals cover a whole wall with a photo or illustration. Cut vinyl lettering and shapes leave the wall color showing between the letters, which suits quotes, names and logos.

Matte is usually the safer finish

Matte vinyl hides glare from windows and lights. Gloss makes colors pop but shows every reflection.

Removable or permanent adhesive

Removable adhesive suits rentals, dorms and kids' rooms. Permanent adhesive suits commercial walls that will not change for years.

Measuring & installation

  1. Measure the full wall. Record width and height in inches, plus the locations of outlets, switches, windows and trim.
  2. Check the paint. Paint should be cured for at least 2 to 3 weeks. Very flat, textured or chalky paints reduce adhesion.
  3. Plan the panels. Large murals come in overlapping vertical panels. Hang the first panel against a level line, not the ceiling.
  4. Smooth from the center out. Use a felt squeegee and work out from the middle to push out air.

FAQs

Will it peel paint when I remove it?

Removable vinyl is designed to come off cleanly from cured, quality paint. Warm it with a hair dryer and peel slowly at a low angle.

Does it work on textured walls?

Light orange-peel texture is fine. Heavy knockdown or brick texture needs a special film. See our textured-walls guide.

Can you make a mural from my own photo?

Yes, if the photo has enough resolution for the wall size. We check it and tell you before printing.

Do you do business lobby walls?

Yes. Logo walls, mission statements and feature walls are made at our sign shop.
